Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Dan Frakes of Macworld posted a review of TapDex in the online version of Mac Gems back in May. The review has finally made it to print.

Boot Time

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I came across this article on the New York Times and found it incredibly amusing.

Ever since switching to OS X some years back, boot up time has become mostly irrelevant since I hardly ever reboot. I remember back in the days , waking my Windows laptop from sleep was always accompanied by anxiety. The chances it would actually wake up was maybe 50-50. It’s funny that 6 years later, things apparently haven’t changed much for PC users.

“Of course, some computer users try to avoid slow boot times by never turning off their machines; they simply leave them in standby mode. But PCs sometimes have a hard time waking up from standby and tend to crash the longer they run without rebooting.”

The article quoted a NASA computer engineer saying,

“If you could just open it up immediately, just like you do with your cellphone, and text somebody or whatever and close it back up, that would be ideal,”

Uh … that describes my 6 year-old PowerBook.

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

We have finally submitted our first iPhone app to the App Store! There isn’t much we can do now but wait.

FileChute for iPhone requires FileChute 4.0 on the Mac side. We haven’t officially released FileChute 4.0 yet, but here’s a sneak peek: download now.

FileChute for iPhone

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Ever since the iPhone platform was opened up to developers, we’ve been receiving a constant stream of requests for an iPhone version of FileChute.

I am happy to say that the app almost ready. Here are some screenshots offering a sneak peek.

This is what the setup screens look like:

FileChute for iPhone requires the soon-to-be-released FileChute 4.0 for Mac OS X. On your Mac, you enter a random 5-digit Passcode in FileChute. You then enter the same Passcode in FileChute for iPhone.

Like FileChute, FileChute for iPhone lets you set up multiple accounts. Choose an account and you’ll see the list of files you’ve sent from your Mac. Select one or more files to send, tap the Email button and start composing your email.
